When setting up an outfit try to make sure it's balanced : Rod (strongest) (line weight) => Reel (max drag) => Line (test) => Leader (weakest) (test) if a leader is required i.e. If your line keeps breaking then your drag is set too high. Make sure you start with a low drag setting. Make sure you're fishing during peak times (check the weather forecast) for a better chance, I caught mine around lunchtime.
Try fishing with the house behind you and casting as near to the middle (of the pond) as you can. Set the float depth to maximum and use a #2 hook, try using baits like dough, bread or semolina (corn is good but not available until level 34). You will need to use a Telescopic or Match rod (float setup), a level 19 EspiraMLR3000 reel and (level 19) Nero rod should be sufficient for the task (any of the Fenix match rods probably even better).
